THE WEB APP redesign

Over time the EH web product accumulated a great deal of technical and design debt. The user experience and interface design became fragmented and inconsistent. In early 2017,

In order to improve the overall experience for the users, we needed to introducing a fresh new look consisting of a new style guide that will enhance the brand awareness and most importantly improve development velocity.

We also took in to consideration the responsive and adaptive practices to ensure that the mobile website also provides a user-friendly experience. The interface has been created with ReactJS to ensure a fast, intuitive and scalable system.

DESIGN UI KIT

The screens were designed for user testing on desktop along with specifications for components and UI toolkit for tablet + mobile to assist the developers with the build. Invision and Zeplin were used to deliver the design screens.

THE MOBILE APP

At Employment Hero, we know life doesn’t always happen inside the office, that's why our team wanted to created our Employment Hero app that lets you make your most out of Australia’s first complete HR system. The need for a clear navigation and intuitive user flows was apparent. I started with the research of existing products in order to create the concepts for a better user experience.

DIGITAL GUIDELINES / BRANDING KIT

I created brand new design guidelines to assist with brand recognition. With the need for mobile redesign, the new brand guideline increased the velocity of current and future development. This is a working progress and will evolve over time.

DIGITAL GUIDELINES / BRANDING KIT

Research: Due to EHs' rapid growth, data was readily available and I was able to use this to accurately define the user base. As well as access the users interaction for various cases. Countless hours was spent conducting research to find the best solution to issues such as, the display of multiple cost centers, creation of multiple modules, display of extensive listing, accessibility of switching organisations and the difficulty of push notifications when a user is a part of multiple organisations.

Scenarios and Personas: The target audience for the mobile app were both employers and employees within the pink collar industry. Each persona represents a significant portion of people to focus on a memorable cast of characters. This allowed me to create different design for a specific somebody rather than a generic body and bring context to their products.

Sprint Plans: Much planning and consideration was given to the mobile development, using Lean UX methodologies, fortnightly sprints were conducted to ensure the users were provided with as much value as quickly as possible. Tools: Pen & Paper, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Sketch, Invision App.

Usability Testing: One of the most important stages while redesigning UX/UI of this mobile application is the user testing. Often even the most brilliant ideas turn out to be the most impractical design for the target users. There were many aspects that received feedback from the users included, the main creation button covering content on the following screens or how many steps longer it took for the user to finalise their intended tasks. To provide maximum of cleanness and simplicity, all the screens were designed with a light background, large, clean aesthetic.

Sprint Plans: With the need for mobile redesign, the need for a new brand guideline, which will increase the velocity of future development. After finalising the designs with the team and stakeholders, the need to capture the mobile application to show animated screens was needed. Here I used Invision to demonstrate the user flow and allow me to add animations, gestures, transitions and transform my static screens into a clickable, interactive prototypes.

Both Employment Hero's project are on-going and is currently in the process of improving the user experience for all user roles along with creating a fresh new brand for Employment Hero accompanied by a robust design system.
